Barcelona midfielder Pedri has made his priorities clear when asked to choose between winning the Ballon d’Or and securing a continental treble with the club. The Spanish international affirmed that he would rather lift three major trophies with La Blaugrana than claim football’s most prestigious individual honor.
Barcelona’s Treble Pursuit in 2025
Barcelona is in contention for a historic treble this season. The Catalan giants have already secured the Supercopa de España, but their focus remains on conquering La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League.
Hansi Flick’s side currently leads La Liga with 60 points and a game in hand. They are also on the brink of the Copa del Rey final, following a dramatic 4-4 draw against Atlético Madrid in the first leg of their semifinal clash. In the Champions League, Barcelona is set to face Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals.
When recently asked whether he would prefer winning the Ballon d’Or or completing a treble-winning season, Pedri had no doubts. Speaking to Fabrizio Romano, he stated:
“Why not think about the treble? I’d rather win the treble than the Ballon d’Or.”

Pedri’s Impact This Season
The 22-year-old midfielder has been a key figure for Hansi Flick’s Barcelona, maintaining his fitness throughout the campaign—a significant improvement given his previous injury struggles. Pedri has featured in 42 matches across all competitions, recording five goals and seven assists.
His consistency has been crucial, missing just one of Barcelona’s 27 La Liga matches this season. He has also played a pivotal role in their Champions League, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa de España campaigns.
Pedri is expected to start when Barcelona resumes La Liga action against Osasuna on Thursday, March 27.
Pedri on Barcelona’s Treble Hopes
Pedri has expressed confidence in Barcelona’s ability to complete a historic treble, acknowledging the difficulty but embracing the challenge as the season reaches its climax. Speaking as report by Barça Universal, he said:
“There are still many games left. We are entering the decisive period where losing three games could knock you out. These are the best matches – the ones you want to play – and why not dream of the treble?”
Barcelona faces a demanding schedule in the coming weeks:
•March 27: vs Osasuna (La Liga)
•March 30: vs Girona (La Liga)
•April 2: vs Atlético Madrid (Copa del Rey Semifinal, Second Leg)
•April 9: vs Borussia Dortmund (Champions League Quarterfinal, First Leg)
As the business end of the season approaches, Barcelona remains focused on making history, with Pedri at the heart of their ambitions.
